What you end up with

A piece of ground ready for what's next: a building site, a lane you can drive, a fence you can find and fix, or a field edge back in hay or pasture. The brush and small trees are ground into mulch and left on the ground. The topsoil stays put, and there's no stump pile to deal with.

Most residential jobs take one to three days. You get the plan and the price up front.

What the work includes

We mulch brush, saplings, and trees up to about 6 inches across where they stand, and up to about 8 inches with more time. The machine is a tracked skid steer with a mulching head. Anything bigger gets flagged on the walk so a tree service can take it down first if needed. We don't dig foundations or haul the mulch away.

Common jobs around Delaware: the unfinished acre behind a newer house, a vacant lot where only the building spot was cleared, a long shared lane off a township road, or a fence row of locust, honeysuckle, and multiflora rose between two fields.

Lot clearing, fence line clearing, and site preparation cover most of it. Right-of-way clearing covers shared lanes and long driveways.

After the job

Some stumps will try to resprout. That's normal, and you won't be on your own with it. Before the job and again after, we'll walk you through keeping regrowth in check, whether that's mowing it with your own equipment or spot-spraying the right herbicide, until grass fills in and crowds the invasives out for good.

What we won't promise

Fields that held farm equipment can still rut under a tracked machine after a wet week. If the ground is too soft, we move the day. We also hold off in very dry spells, when the mulching head is a fire risk.

Near the Olentangy River and Delaware Lake, floodplain rules or stream setbacks may mean we stop short of the water. We figure out which rules apply to your parcel on the estimate, before anything is scheduled.

Around Delaware

Delaware is the county seat. US-23, US-42, and US-36 meet there, and the Olentangy River runs through town. North of the city, the river was dammed to form Delaware Lake, where Delaware State Park is. The lots near the river and the lake tend to be woodier and steeper. Old farm parcels away from the water are flatter and usually come down to a lane, a fence row, or a field edge.

The understory along the creeks is mostly bush honeysuckle. Pasture edges that haven't been cut in years fill with multiflora rose and autumn olive. Callery pear spreads into unmowed back lots from nearby yards.

FAQ

Land Clearing questions in Delaware

Yes. The city and the townships around the Olentangy are in our service area. A lot near the square and a farm row north of Delaware Lake are different jobs, and the estimate is where we look at access, slope, and what you want left standing.
That is the point of the way we clear. Brush, saplings, and smaller trees are mulched in place. The roots stay, and we do not scrape the lot to bare dirt. Trees too large for the mulching head are a separate conversation with a tree service before we start.
We reschedule. Ground can look dry on top and still be soft underneath. Rutting the property is not an acceptable result, and we would rather move the day.
Clearing brush on private land usually is not a building-permit job, but work in the Olentangy floodplain, near Delaware Lake, or inside a riparian setback can. We sort out which office applies while we walk the property.
